    Letter from the Executive Director

    December 22, 2011 9 Comments

We are blessed to have so many supporters from around the world supporting our work - from the young child who sends his allowance money to the large corporation practicing socially responsible neighboring – and we are profoundly grateful. Many times that support comes not just in the form of monetary contributions (although that is wonderful and much needed) but in the encouraging words we hear as we travel the country and get to meet and spend time with the individuals and families to whom we provide a hand up.

A note from Jon Bon Jovi

    November 1, 2011 16 Comments

    Dear all,

Sorry it has taken a minute to write this note, but we've all been very busy in the Kitchen.

The JBJ Soul Kitchen officially opened its doors in Red Bank, NJ on October 19th. The response has been even better than we could have hoped for. We at the JBJ Soul Kitchen are a Community Restaurant where there are no prices on our menus. As you may have heard you can either donate at least the minimum donation of $10.00 for your meal or donate your time to earn your meal. We have met many people from across the economic spectrum who are all ready, willing, and able to engage in our community.

Homeowners in 27 States & Puerto Rico Will Have Until September 15 to Apply for EHLP Funding

Due to the many calls and emails we at the JBJSF receive regarding mortgage foreclosure assistance, we thought this notice from HUD and NeighborWorks America might provide guidance to the affected jurisdictions. Below is their press release and information:

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and NeighborWorks® America today reopened the application process for the Emergency Homeowners’ Loan Program (EHLP) in 27 states and Puerto Rico to give homeowners at risk of foreclosure more time to apply for the program. While the original application deadline was July 27, HUD estimates that resources will be available to reach more struggling homeowners and will accept applications submitted through September 15, 2011.
