PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Dozens of people lined up today to apply for one of 55 units of affordable housing being financed by Jon Bon Jovi in the Fairmount neighborhood of Philadelphia.
Yesterday Jon Bon Jovi, the Board Chairman of the JBJ Soul Foundation, was back visiting his hometown of Sayreville, NJ. Along with New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and his wife, Mary Pat Christie, Jon met with residents of the community that was hard hit by Hurricane Sandy. After meeting with local residents and listening to their stories about rebuilding their lives after the storm, Jon joined the Governor, First Lady, and Mayor of Sayreville on stage to announce a donation of one million dollars that the band Bon Jovi would be making to the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund.
Additionally, the Soul Foundation, of which Jon Bon Jovi is Board Chair, has worked closely with community leaders in Sayreville since the storm hit and continues to help connect them with resources that may help the recovery effort.
The JBJ Soul Kitchen is proud to participate in the National Dine Out Day benefiting the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund. Join us on Friday, June 21st from 5pm – 7pm and know that you will be supporting not only Soul Kitchen, but the Relief Fund as well.
On Tuesday, May 21st, Dorothea and Jon Bon Jovi, and the JBJ Soul Foundation, were honored at the ACE 21st Anniversary Gala in New York City. Dorothea, Jon, and the JBJ Soul Foundation were presented with the Ace Humanitarian Award for their work in the community assisting in several different areas including issues surrounding hunger and homelessness.
