A note from Jon Bon Jovi

11/01/11

Dear all,

Sorry it has taken a minute to write this note, but we've all been very busy in the Kitchen.

The JBJ Soul Kitchen officially opened its doors in Red Bank, NJ on October 19th. The response has been even better than we could have hoped for. We at the JBJ Soul Kitchen are a Community Restaurant where there are no prices on our menus. As you may have heard you can either donate at least the minimum donation of $10.00 for your meal or donate your time to earn your meal. We have met many people from across the economic spectrum who are all ready, willing, and able to engage in our community.

At a time when 1 in 5 families are living at or below the poverty line and 1 in 6 children in NJ are food insecure, this is a restaurant whose time has come. The JBJ Soul Kitchen is also a model that can be replicated in your town.

I want to thank everyone who made this vision a reality, all of the staff, volunteers, contractors, those who have donated money, time and words of encouragement, those who have come to eat or just to check us out on the web.

If you are in the Red Bank area, come down and check us out, lend a hand, make a friend or two, and by the way, eat!

See you soon...JBJ

Congratulations and well done to you guys for what you have created, I hope that the message of the Soul kitchen spreads to the world over, this is an amazing idea created by an amazing man, who will succeed at anything he puts his hand to.....because everything he creates he does so out of love, what you have created can be mirrored in every community if we all make the decision to give a little !!...I will visit the Soul Kitchen one day and I very much look forward to that day !!!l, keep up the great work.

Dear Jon,My name is Scoop and I am the original and now current Volunteer Coordinator and a Chef at One World Cafe' in Salt Lake City,During this Holiday season I want all to know the LOVE and HOPE these communities can share with everyone. One way you can help is go into your local community cafe' or kitchen and buy a full meal and pay an extra $10-$15 on top of the suggested food price. Another way is to volunteer at one of these kitchens. I always suggest people of any faith take 10 minutes a day to pray, meditate or even give silence to a world with no more hunger or homelessness! Happy Hollidays, Scoop Einer One World Cafe' 41 south 300 east Salt Lake City, UT 84111 (801) 519-2002

A fan since the 80's, first saw you at the Betsy Ross Inn in Pennsauken N.J. Within the past year I started to pursue a degree in Human Services. I want to give back to my community,so decided to do it professionally. I live in Wildwood N.J. during the winter this town turns into a ghost town. Homelessness and poverty is no stranger to Wildwoods in the off season. The Social Service building has a line out the door every day. There is a project here that has been trying to open its doors for about two years now. http://freemealcenter.com/ I am hoping you can check out this link, maybe your Soul Foundation can give some help. Thank you, Jon for making a difference in peoples lives.

I am a fan of your music for 25 years & a supporter of helping the homeless. My life is connected to the lyrics of your music. When I fled an abusive home, Runaway carried me thru, at 18 when I became pregnant, Living on a Prayer, was my mantra & when I was diagnosed with a serious life-long illness, Keep the Faith is what I live by. Most of my life has been in poverty; one thing that remained; the importance of giving back. Your commitment to serving hope at The JBJ Soul Kitchen is on my Bucket List. I would bring my 21 yr old daughter, who grew up with your music & has sought a field of work assisting the homeless and at risk youth. Thank you for putting your Dreams into action.

We can support his cause making donations to the JBJ Soul Foundation. If we do this continuously, no matter the value of the contribution, we would be helping to fund its humanitarian projects.

Congratulation! I respect you. If I live in the USA I will visit Soul Kitchen at once. There are many homeless people all over the world. But I think the biggest problem is one of eliminating the homeless from developed countries including the United States. I sincerely pray that the homeless people will be able to get home and their work. God bless you...
