Surprise Visit by Tiger Woods to Youth and Staff at Project H.O.M.E. and Hopeworks n' Camden

05/14/10

The Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation is proud to have been selected by the AT&T National golf tournament as one of the recipients of the proceeds from this event. In addition to the Boys & Girls Club of Philadelphia and the Tiger Woods Foundation, the JBJSF will be one of the charities featured throughout the week-long golf tournament, held June 29 - July 4.

In keeping with the mission of the JBJSF, we are continuing to forge partnerships and build relationships in our community. In working with the Tiger Woods Foundation, the JBJSF has identified two organizations in our grant portfolio that will also benefit from this event: Project H.O.M.E. and Hopeworks in Camden, NJ. On Monday, May 10th, 2010, both organizations received a surprise visit by Tiger Woods at the Honickman Learning Center and Comcast Technology Labs in Philadelphia. He was in the area to visit Aronimink Golf Club, site of this year's AT&T National. The purpose of Woods' visit to the Center was to learn first hand about both organizations and how they are helping their city's youth through innovative educational programs. Tiger visited Project H.O.M.E.'s College Access Program and an Adult Learning class as well as with HopeWorks' youth who shared their experiences and goals with Tiger.

One other thing, knowing how the "Tent City" people of Camden just recently got housing and got out is thrilling!!! This is what it's all about...getting people off the streets, giving them housing, clothing, food, access to healthcare and job training so that they can become productive people in society and get their dignity and self respect and self esteem back!!! May God continue to bless you all..... Luv & Kisses....Lisa

Jon, I'm really thrilled about what you are Sister Mary and Project H.O.M.E. are doing for Camden. I was born and raised there, still have family there, work there. The people there just need to know that someone truly cares and we all need a helping hand from time to time. We are our brother's keeper. It's nice to see that you haven't written Camden "off", like so many others do. There are so many good, decent, hardworking people in Camden, yes there is crime as well, as there is in any town/city, but let's try to stay focused on the good and not the bad. The glass is half full!! Again, thank you ALL for what you're doing in Camden. Luv & Kisses.....Lisa
